Recording Video

Opening the Video Recorder

Click the video camera icon in the compose toolbar, or press V while the compose box is not focused. If the browser needs camera or microphone access, grant both when prompted.


The Live Preview

Before recording begins, you see a live camera preview so you can frame the shot. From here you can:

  • Select your camera — click the camera selector to choose between connected cameras.
  • Select your microphone — click the microphone selector to choose your audio input device.
  • Toggle background blur — click the blur button to blur your background. Click again to turn it off.
  • Mute the microphone — click the mic button to silence audio input while keeping the camera live.

Recording

Click the Record button to start. A timer shows elapsed time. While recording you can:

  • Pause and resume — click the Pause button to temporarily stop recording; click again to continue. The timer pauses too.
  • Mute / unmute audio — click the mic button to silence the audio track from that point on.

Size limit: The maximum recording size is 25 MB. Recording stops automatically if you hit the limit; the clip up to that point is available to preview.


Previewing Before You Attach

Click Stop to finish recording. The recorder switches to a preview screen where you can watch the clip back. Use the playback controls to review the video.

If you’re not happy with the take, click Re-record to discard the clip and return to the live camera preview.


Attaching the Recording

Click Use to attach the video to the compose box. An attachment chip appears showing the video filename. It uploads in the background — send the reply when the chip shows a checkmark.


Cancelling

Click Cancel at any point to discard the recording and close the video recorder. Nothing is added to the compose box.


Camera or Microphone Permission Denied

If browser permissions were denied:

  1. Click the lock icon in the browser address bar.
  2. Set Camera and Microphone both to Allow.
  3. Refresh the Freshdesk page and try again.
