In-Sidebar Chat Panel
Opening the Chat Panel
On a ticket with an existing escalation, click View Channel or View Thread in the Slack Channels sidebar card. The chat panel opens and loads the full message history.
Reading Messages
Messages appear in chronological order, oldest at the top and newest at the bottom. The panel scrolls to the latest message on open.
To load older messages, scroll to the top of the panel. Earlier messages are fetched automatically using cursor pagination — keep scrolling to go further back.
The member list or participant count is shown in the panel header so you can see who is in the conversation at a glance.
Sending a Message
Type in the compose box at the bottom of the panel and press Send (or Cmd/Ctrl+Enter). The message is posted to the Slack channel or thread and is immediately visible to all participants in Slack.
@mentioning a Slack User
Type @ followed by part of a user’s name. A dropdown of matching Slack users appears — select the person you want. The message is sent with a proper Slack mention that notifies the named user.
@mentioning a Usergroup
Type @ followed by a usergroup handle. Selecting the group from the dropdown sends the message and batch-invites all group members to the channel. See Joining & Inviting Collaborators for details.
Threaded Replies
To view or reply to a thread on a specific message:
- Click the thread / replies link beneath a message in the channel view.
- A thread panel opens alongside the main message list, showing all replies.
- Type in the thread composer and press Send to post a reply.
Replies appear inside the correct Slack thread and are visible to everyone following that thread.
Opening in Slack
Click Open in Slack — available in both the sidebar card and the chat panel — to open the channel or thread directly in the Slack desktop or web app.
Theme
Click the ☀️ / 🌙 toggle in the chat panel header to switch between light and dark mode. The preference is saved and restored the next time you open the panel.
